Privacy Policy

ChoreHero ("ChoreHero," "we," "us") built ChoreHero to connect Customers with local service Heroes. We take your privacy seriously. The short version: we collect the minimum we need to run the marketplace, we never sell your data, and we share your information only with the people and services required to complete your booking.
1. What We Collect
Account information: your name, email, phone number, and password. For Heroes, your service details, rates, and profile content.
Verification information (Heroes only): identity and background-check information, collected and processed by our verification partners (Stripe Identity and Checkr). ChoreHero does not store your government ID number or full background report — these are held by those providers. We store only the verification status.
Location and address: the service address for a booking, and approximate location used to match Customers with nearby Heroes. When a Hero is on the way to or working an active booking, the Hero's live location is shared with that Customer for arrival tracking; sharing stops when the job ends.
Booking and payment information: the jobs you post or accept, messages, and transaction records. Card details are handled by Stripe; ChoreHero does not store full card numbers.
Content: video quotes, photos, and reviews you choose to provide.
Usage and device information: basic technical data needed to operate the app reliably, such as device type and app activity.
2. What We Do With It
We use your information to: create and manage your account; match Customers with Heroes; process bookings and payments; verify Heroes; enable communication; provide support; keep the platform safe; and comply with the law. That's it.
3. What We Don't Do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade it. We do not show third-party ads inside ChoreHero that target you based on your personal data.
4. Who We Share It With
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
With the other party in your booking. When a Customer books a Hero, the Hero receives the information needed to perform the job, including the service address. A Customer sees a Hero's public profile (display name, video, ratings) — never the Hero's full legal name or private details.
With service providers that power ChoreHero: Stripe (payments and identity), Checkr (background checks), and our cloud, video, and notification infrastructure. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.
When required by law, such as a valid legal request, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the public.
We never share your full legal name, contact details, or precise address beyond what a booking requires.
5. How We Protect It
We use industry-standard safeguards, including row-level access controls so users can only see data they're authorized to see, and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect in the first place.
6. Your Choices
You can view and update most of your information in the app. You can delete your account and associated personal data directly in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by contacting hello@choreheroapp.com; some records may be retained where required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. You can control push notifications and location permissions in your device settings.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations (for example, transaction and tax records). When no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
8. Children
ChoreHero is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy. The current version is always in the app with its version number and effective date. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
